Job Description

Overview Reporting to the Head Men’s Soccer Coach, the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in building an elite-level NCAA Division II program. This includes promoting academic achievement and character among student‑athletes, fans, and the overall college community. The Assistant Coach will implement and coach a full developmental team, manage individual player development, coordinate recruiting, prepare for game days, scout opponents, monitor academics, and provide on‑field coaching during practices. A focus on recruitment and retention, game preparation, net tuition revenue generation, and meticulous budget management is essential. The role must comply with NCAA, Conference Carolinas, and TitleIX regulations. Essential Functions Assist the Head Coach in day‑to‑day operations, including practice scheduling, off‑season programming, and in‑game coaching. Evaluate and recruit elite prospective student‑athletes. Prepare games and analyze opponent play. Train and develop all student‑athletes, with a focus on goalkeeping. Monitor academic progress and promote personal growth. Lead and participate in practices and drills. Conduct individual workouts, conditioning, and strength training. Direct, instruct, and assist with summer soccer camps. Study game film and prepare analyses. Plan meals for game days and organize logistics. Coordinate travel for away competitions. Invest in the lives and growth of student‑athletes. Support the Head Coach in all phases of mentoring and evaluation. Lead the development team as head coach. Conduct consistent developmental team workouts and practices. Schedule all developmental team games and handle travel arrangements. Perform other administrative duties as assigned. Multi‑task efficiently in a fast‑paced environment. Work independently and as part of a team. Maintain detailed and goal‑oriented focus. Build relationships with prospective players, families, high‑school and AAU coaches, community college coaches, faculty, staff, community members, and external vendors. Demonstrate excellent communication, follow‑up skills, entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and confidentiality. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not directly supervise staff but will oversee student assistants and/or managers. Environment Work occurs in a normal office setting as well as non‑traditional environments such as gymnasiums, weight rooms, and locker rooms. The Coach may also work outdoors during team activities and additional skill sessions. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work Full‑time position requiring evening and weekend work. Weekly hours vary: Monday‑Friday can range from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Frequent evening and weekend work is needed for recruitment and competition. Travel Travel may be required to accompany the team to home and away competitions and to participate in recruiting activities. Required Qualifications Required Education and Experience Previous coaching experience at the high‑school or college level. Excellent written and oral communication, strong presentation skills, and outstanding customer and quality service skills. Competency with Microsoft Office and social media marketing platforms. Ability to build relationships with student‑athletes and families. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education and Experience Master’s degree in a related field. Experience with Slate or another CRM system. Certifications: CPR, AED, and First Aid.
