Therapists are expected to uphold the highest standards in service delivery, cleanliness, and guest care, while working collaboratively within a high-performing spa team.Guest Experience & Service Delivery (Massage Therapist)Provide professional massage services including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Aromatherapy, Sports Massage, and ReflexologyPerform body treatments such as scrubs, wraps, and hydrotherapy services in accordance with spa protocolsCustomize each service based on guest needs, preferences, and contraindicationsDeliver a consistent, elevated guest experience aligned with The Sanderling brandMaintain a calm, attentive, and professional demeanor at all timesEducate guests on treatment benefits and recommend appropriate services and retail productsMaintain strong knowledge of all back bar products, including ingredients, benefits, explain product ingredients and their effectsRecommend retail products based on guest needs, concerns, and services receivedTreatment Standards & Protocol AdherencePerform all services according to established spa protocols and timing standardsBegin and end all services on timeUnderstand contraindications and apply universal precautions when delivering servicesArrive 30 minutes prior to scheduled shift to prepare treatment rooms and suppliesComplete all assigned side work, including laundry, stocking, and spa maintenance tasksMaintain a positive, professional attitude and contribute to a supportive team environmentWork a consistent, assigned schedule based on business needsAttend all required trainings, meetings, and protocol refreshersReport any guest concerns, incidents, or operational issues to Spa Leadership immediatelyResponsibilities and QualificationsUnderstand the basics of the spa menu and products to communicate knowledgeably with guestsAssist guests with use of lockers and amenitiesAttend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.Demonstrate a team-focused attitude and encourage collaboration.Understand and use safe work practices for all safety precautions including Emergency Evacuation Procedures, Violence in the Workplace, Accident Reporting Compliance, and Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures.Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued including time and attendance expectations, uniform and dress code standards, anti-harassment policy, and substances in the workplace.Active North Carolina Massage Therapy License (in good standing)Certification from an accredited Massage Therapy programPrevious professional massage therapy experienceAbility to perform Deep Tissue massage and full-body treatmentsStrong communication, interpersonal, and guest service skillsAbility to remain calm, professional, and guest-focused in a fast-paced environmentPreferredExperience in a luxury resort or hotel spa environmentExperience with body treatments (scrubs, wraps, hydrotherapy)Reflexology certification or experienceDual licensure (Esthetics or Cosmetology) is a plus, but not requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to perform massage services for extended periods (6–8+ hours per shift)Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbsPhysical stamina to meet the demands of a high-volume spa environmentEmployment Expectations (Peak Season: June – October)Availability for full-time, 8+ hour shifts, including weekends and holidaysFlexibility to work increased hours based on resort occupancy and demandCommitment to maintaining service standards during high-volume periodsStrong teamwork and adaptability to support seasonal operationsWhat Success Looks Like in This RoleGuests feel relaxed, cared for, and eager to returnServices are delivered consistently, on time, and to brand standardTherapists confidently educate guests and recommend products that enhance results at homeTreatment rooms and spa spaces remain clean, organized, and guest-readyTherapists actively contribute to a positive, team-oriented environmentCompensation: Massage Therapists - Hourly Rate plus 25% commission on service charge when performing the service.Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
