A growing organization in West Des Moines is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join its team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring accurate payroll processing, and providing excellent support to employees and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll for employees while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain employee payroll records, including earnings, deductions, garnishments, 401k contributions, tax information, and direct deposit updates.
• Review and audit payroll data to ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and year-end activities, including W-2 preparation.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
• Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage/hour compliance.
• Experience with payroll software systems Sage, ADP, NetSuite, Oracle, Paylocity, Paychex and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential information.
