Position Summary

Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery Faculty Position. The University of New Mexico School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery is recruiting a board certified or board eligible, Open Rank, Open Track neurosurgeon with interest and training in both open and endovascular cerebrovascular neurosurgery. Join 11 established neurosurgeons currently practicing and teaching neurosurgery residents at UNM.

The University of New Mexico is the only tertiary referral neurosurgical center in the state of 2.3 million people. There is a significant need and opportunity to grow and expand an established practice focused on cerebrovascular disease. The department has a comprehensive practice focusing on a diverse range of neurological disorders in both pediatric and adult neurosurgery, and an ACGME approved residency training program. UNM is also the only Level 1 trauma center in the state, and participation in the general trauma call pool will be expected.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree
  • Board certified or board eligible in Neurosurgery
  • Specialized training or experience in cerebrovascular neurosurgery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic neurosurgery training or practice: working with residents, medical students, and trainees
  • Teaching: lectures and presentations
  • Scholarly activity: publications, presentations, participation in clinical/translational research, and/or independent funding of research
  • Commitment to community: a demonstrated commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the University’s mission to serve local and global communities
