Job Posting: Worship and Music Director

Position Type: Full-time with benefits
Schedule: Tuesday–Friday, Sunday services, occasional evenings, and special events
Reports to: Senior Pastor
About the Role Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is seeking a passionate, gifted Worship and Music Director to lead our congregation in meaningful, spirit-filled worship. This ministry leader will guide all aspects of worship and music programming, honoring Lutheran liturgical traditions while fostering creativity, participation, and spiritual growth within the congregation.
Key Responsibilities Liturgical Worship Planning
Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and pastoral team to plan worship that aligns with the Lutheran liturgical calendar, weekly scripture, and sermon themes.
Select and integrate both traditional and contemporary music that reflects Lutheran heritage and congregational diversity.
Plan and direct music for all regular and special worship services (Advent, Lent, Holy Week, Christmas, Easter, funerals, weddings).
Oversee sound and multimedia systems for services and events.
Manage live streaming for worship services and special events.
Leadership & Direction
Direct and rehearse the GSLC Choir, Children’s Choir, Bell Choir, and special music groups.
Recruit, train, and nurture volunteers in music and arts ministries.
Provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to music ministry participants.
Administration & Coordination
Schedule and coordinate all musical and artistic components of worship.
Maintain the church’s music library, instruments, and audio/video equipment.
Develop and manage the Worship & Music budget.
Prepare worship-related content for bulletins, newsletters, and the church website.
Development & Outreach
Cultivate a welcoming, vibrant music and arts community within the church.
Organize workshops, seminars, or retreats to deepen understanding of worship and liturgical music.
Utilize audio/video technology to enhance in-person and online worship experiences.
Special Responsibilities
Serve as a liaison between music ministry and other church ministries.
Coordinate artistic expressions such as drama or dance, ensuring they complement Lutheran liturgical practices.
Qualifications
A vibrant faith in Jesus Christ and alignment to the mission of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Bachelor’s degree in Music or related field is preferred.
Experience in church music ministry. Knowledge of Lutheran liturgy and hymnody is preferred.
Proven leadership skills and ability to inspire and mentor volunteers.
Proficiency in vocal and instrumental music; ability to conduct choirs and ensembles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment
This position is based on-site at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and includes a dedicated office. Occasional remote work possible in some capacity.

Compensation is competitive and will be determined based on experience and qualifications. Benefits are included.
