Esports Head Coach PART TIME Doral, FL, US 1 Attachments 5 days ago Requisition ID: 1260 Salary Range: $22.00 To $25.00 Hourly Esports Head Coach The Head Coach of Esports leads all competitive, instructional, and community facing aspects of the Divine Savior Academy esports program, which fields high school teams in the fall season and middle school teams in the spring season through PlayVS. The Head Coach builds rosters, sets the seasonal schedule, develops student athletes as competitors and teammates, and grows the program's visibility and participation across the student body. This role does not require expert level mastery of every competitive title; it requires a coach who understands gaming culture and the fundamental mechanics driving each genre, including MOBA, FPS, platform fighter, racing, and sports simulation. The successful candidate can step into any game day, read the competitive situation, encourage and refocus players, and identify students with deep title specific knowledge who can be developed into team captains. Duties Tryouts and team selection: Establish and publish tryout dates, formats, and evaluation criteria each season, conduct tryouts, and make final roster and role assignments for every team. Season scheduling: Build the practice and competition calendar in coordination with PlayVS league schedules, the school calendar, and facility availability, and communicate it to students, families, and staff in advance of each season. League knowledge: Monitor PlayVS announcements, rule changes, title rotations, registration windows, and platform requirements, and adjust program offerings accordingly. Title availability each season is determined by PlayVS listings and student tryout interest. Coaching and team development: Coach students in competitive fundamentals including communication, role clarity, practice discipline, preparation, and composure under pressure, and be present and engaged on game days to provide encouragement, in match support, and post match review across all titles. Captain development: Identify students with strong title specific knowledge and leadership capacity, develop them into team captains with defined responsibilities, and hold regular communication with captains throughout the season. Staff coordination: Direct and support the assistant coach, delegating title specific coaching where appropriate and maintaining clear shared expectations for practices, matches, and student conduct. Broadcast program: Recruit, train, and schedule student live stream managers and shoutcasters, and monitor live streams for content quality, technical performance, and appropriate conduct. Expanded student roles: Create and staff non competitive roles that broaden participation, including team manager, photographer, videographer, social content creator, and statistician. Recruitment and student engagement: Actively recruit students across grade levels and experience levels, and create low barrier entry points such as open play events, interest meetings, demo sessions, and campus showcases that let students explore esports before committing to a roster. Program growth: Develop a pipeline between the middle school and high school seasons, track participation, retention, and competitive results, and report on program growth to the supervising administrator. Business office coordination: Coordinate esports participation fees, billing timelines, and account reconciliation with the business office, and research, specify, and order team merchandise, uniforms, and program supplies within approved budget parameters. Contracts and eligibility: Review and manage student player contracts, eligibility documentation, PlayVS rostering requirements, rosters, attendance records, and season documentation. Family communication: Communicate schedules, expectations, and program updates to families in a timely and professional manner, respond to parent inquiries and concerns, and elevate to administration when appropriate. Facility and equipment stewardship: Maintain the readiness, organization, and appropriate use of all esports hardware and the broadcast station, including 10 gaming PCs, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 consoles, peripherals, and streaming equipment, in coordination with the IT department. Community engagement: Develop interscholastic opportunities including local invitational tournaments hosted at Divine Savior Academy or at partner venues in Doral and greater Miami, and build relationships with area schools, leagues, and organizations. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required 1 year minimum experience coaching, mentoring, teaching, or supervising students or youth in a structured setting Demonstrated working knowledge of gaming culture, competitive gaming norms, and online community dynamics Functional understanding of the core mechanics and competitive structures of multiple genres, including MOBA, FPS, platform fighter, racing, and sports simulation, with enough familiarity with the titles played on campus to guide practice, evaluate performance, and support teams on game day Ability to build individual players into a cohesive team, and to identify and develop student leaders in competitive, production, and support roles Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, rosters, budgets, and documentation independently Effective written and verbal communication with students, families, staff, and external partners Adaptability to shifting league offerings, patch cycles, and changing student interest without loss of program momentum Ability to balance competitive goals with student wellbeing, academic priorities, and healthy technology habits Preferred: experience with PlayVS or a comparable scholastic esports league Preferred: experience with live stream production, including OBS or similar software, audio routing, lighting, and green screen workflows Preferred: familiarity with PC hardware, peripherals, network requirements, and basic troubleshooting Preferred: prior competitive play at a collegiate, amateur, or organized league level Ability to pass a background screening and complete all required school onboarding and safety training Exemplary Christian role model who lets his or her “light shine” Physical Requirements Ability to work after school hours during the assigned season, with occasional evening and weekend events Ability to remain engaged and attentive with students for extended practice and competition sessions Ability to move about the esports and broadcast facility for the duration of practices and matches Ability to set up, adjust, and reposition gaming stations, consoles, peripherals, and broadcast equipment Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds Reports to: As Needed: High School Principal, Middle School Principal, Director of Academic Operations #J-18808-Ljbffr
