Overview Open & Closing Dates: 03/23/2026 to 03/28/2026 Salary: $18.76 to – $21.08 per hour Pay Scale & Grade: CY 1 – 2 Location: 5 vacancies at Vance AFB, OK (no telework, no travel required, no relocation expenses reimbursed) Appointment Type: Temporary – 8/14/26 Work schedule: Intermittent Service Other: Competitive, Promotion potential, Certification: AF Drug test required, Security clearance: None, supervisory status: None Duties Child and Youth Program Assistant (All Levels): Provide care/supervision, oversight, and accountability for program participants. Assist in preparing age‑appropriate activities, supervise indoor/outdoor activities, field trips, outings, and special events; arrange/snacks/meals. Execute work according to policies and regulations. May be required to transport children in government vehicles. Child and Youth Program Assistant (Target Level): Coordinate and conduct activities for children and/or youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years. Create a welcoming environment, implement program options for children with special requirements, instruct and facilitate planned and spontaneous activities. Brief staff, management, and parents. Conduct inventory on equipment and supplies. Child and Youth Program Assistant (Intermediate Level): Assist in planning, coordinating and conducting activities. Create an engaging environment, implement daily schedules and activity plans, brief staff and parents, and conduct inventory on equipment and supplies. Child and Youth Program Assistant (Entry Level): Perform routine tasks following step‑by‑step instructions. Assist in providing planned activities using prepared curriculum and program materials. Create an engaging environment, generate a list of needed supplies and equipment, and attend to physical needs of children. Requirements (Conditions of Employment) Pre‑employment checks, including Air Force/DoD policy and Child Care Tier 1 background investigation. Test Designated Position – consent to pre‑employment and random drug testing. Physical lifting requirement – favorable pre‑employment physical. Current immunizations (annual influenza vaccination and freedom from communicable diseases). Completion of Food Handlers certification within specified time after hire. Education Education may substitute for required experience. Foreign education equivalency must be proven. Proof of credentials required with application. Additional Information Child Development Program provides 100% childcare fee discount for first child enrolled in full‑time or regular part‑time DAF CDP; 37% discount for subsequent children. Must spend minimum 75% of work schedule in classroom. Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire. Must communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
