Category Manager

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Compensation: $100,000-$130,000 base salary

Summary

We are seeking a Category Manager to lead sourcing and procurement activities for capital equipment, facilities, and large-scale investment projects. This role will partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Project Management to ensure capital purchases are cost-effective, timely, and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end procurement for CAPEX projects including equipment, tooling, construction, and infrastructure
• Develop sourcing strategies, run RFPs, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier selection
• Partner with Engineering and Operations to align technical requirements with commercial terms
• Manage supplier relationships and performance for capital vendors
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, approval workflows, and financial controls
• Support project timelines by managing lead times, risks, and change orders
• Track savings, spend, and capital budgets; provide reporting to leadership
• Identify cost reduction and standardization opportunities across capital spend

Qualifications

• 5+ years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience
• Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or facilities-driven environments
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a project-based setting
• Bachelor's degree preferred
