The Department of Transportation is looking for an Accounting Assistant who enjoys keeping information organized and accurate. You will help keep information organized and ensure daily work follows required guidelines. As an Accounting Assistant, you will perform the following duties: Document Preparation: Prepare letters, reports, and contracts and review them for accuracy Payroll Support: Assist with daily payroll processing and resolve related issues Payment Processing: Handle utility and service payments and track accounts payable items Account Management: Establish and close encumbrances for maintenance agreements Invoice Review: Run reports and address discrepancies that delay vendor payments Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Rochester. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits Additional Requirements: Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA, is required.
